Light inside an icon.
Audio Obscura brought its first festival edition to the Van Nelle Fabriek on 24 August 2024, opening the UNESCO-listed complex as a setting for four indoor and outdoor stages.
Eventcare delivered stage and light design for the festival. The work used the factory's long spans, bridges and industrial structure as part of the visual language rather than treating the building as a neutral shell.
Design the room with light.
In a building this recognisable, the design had to reveal architecture and music at the same time. Stage composition and light were developed as one response: precise enough to draw out the steel structure, physical enough to hold the crowd.

Structure became scenery.
Lines of light stretched across the hall and into the crowd, extending the architecture instead of covering it. The result was a room that changed with the programme while the factory stayed present.
